A body representing 411 local businesses, Advancing Aberystwyth sponsored a new two-week
festival created and delivered by theatre company Arad Goch. As well as making a substantial financial contribution, Advancing Aberystwyth supported the project in-kind and helped forge invaluable links between its members and the theatre company. It also played a key role in attending meetings, assisting with promotion and marketing and providing the catering for the festival’s finale.

The project reached a wide audience – both tourists and local people – and the event united Aberystwyth’s diverse community through direct involvement with the arts. The judges praised the way the ambitious programme of workshops and street performances entertained almost
7,500 people, while directly benefiting local businesses. The partnership raised the profile and enhanced the reputation of both Arad Goch and Advancing Aberystwyth. The festival was so successful for all parties that discussions are now taking place about future collaborations.

Finalists

Menai Holiday Cottages

Menai Holiday Cottages partnered Anglesey Arts Forum to promote the annual Open Studios
scheme and develop year-round support of the island’s studio network. The  sponsorship produced a promotional Open Studios Guide publicising the 80 participating artists and their businesses. It also raised the profile of Menai Holiday Cottages to a target audience. Culture is a major draw for tourists and the judges felt linking artists to nearby cottages  demonstrated clear mutual benefit.

Tesni Properties

As a committed supporter of NEW Sinfonia, Tesni sponsored the orchestra’s music residency at Wrexham Maelor Hospital’s Rehabilitation ward. Players performed over a 12-week period for patients, staff and visitors, gaining an overwhelmingly positive response from all who heard them. The live music had a major impact on patients and on their recovery. Tesni was delighted to continue its association with creative excellence while playing a key role in the community of North East Wales.
