Two contrasting arts partnerships successfully raised awareness of Traveline Cymru’s services across Wales. Sponsoring FOCUS Wales reached a young festival audience in North Wales.
Added investment from A&B Cymru’s CultureStep enabled the arts organisation to offer a wider range of workshops designed for families and financially disadvantaged youngsters. Traveline benefitted from a greatly enhanced presence in the area. The company also commissioned Hijinx to create a promotional trailer for its Freephone information line, targeting parents, grandparents and carers to encourage them to make greater use of public transport services. Support from A&B Cymru extended the commission to three films which starred learning disabled actors from the Hijinx Academy. The films reached a wide audience through social media channels that exceeded the business’ expectations. The judges felt Traveline’s approach was innovative and clearly focussed and praised its vision and commitment. Both partnerships will continue in 2019.
Wales’ newest entertainment agency began a partnership with Aberystwyth Arts Centre with a shared aim of providing live music performances and opportunities for talent in the town. A series of events by emerging artists was held at the Arts Centre, ranging from jazz to musical theatre. The partnership was mutually beneficial, raising the profile of the business while bringing quality live music to the Arts Centre and developing the careers of new musicians.
The boutique restaurant-with-rooms sponsored the annual visual art event, Helfa Gelf, for the first time in 2018. Helfa Gelf is an open-studios initiative across North Wales and manorhaus saw the opportunity to widen its customer base for its regular cinema and supper club. It staged an inaugural ‘art’ film festival to coincide with Helfa Gelf which it also financially supported. The partnership proved to be such a good match that it will be repeated this autumn.
