GRAND SLAM THEATRE & SOUTH WEST WALES MEDIA AND OTHER BUSINESS PARTNERS

The partnerships between Grand Slam Theatre and its sponsors demonstrate how the arts can play a positive role in urban regeneration. Cappuccino Girls was performed in empty retail units in Swansea’s High Street from September – December 2011. CultureStep added value by funding banners created by a local artist and students on the exterior of the building, workshops for business partners’ staff and the creation of an artistic entrance by students from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. A total of 5,000 people attended the show. Over 75% of these were new theatre attendees and 85% of them said they wished to see another performance.

Following this success, Cappuccino Girls returns to Swansea’s High Street in April. Business support includes first time sponsor Oyster Bay Systems and other local companies are returning with increased investment. CultureStep will enable community workshops and work experience placements for local students.
