NOFIT STATE CIRCUS

NOFIT STATE CIRCUS

Paul Ralley, a Systems Analyst at Legal & General, was placed on the board of NoFit State Circus in 2006. It had grown from a community arts organisation to a world class professional circus whose creative vision and artistic success far exceeded its business acumen and financial expertise to the point of facing possible bankruptcy. As a committed board member, Paul played a central role in transforming the corporate structure, helping to embed sustainable strategies and systems. As a result, the circus company was able to turn itself round within just a few months and is now a flourishing company employing 9 permanent employees and many freelancers. Paul was made the Chair of NoFit State in 2008 and still plays a central role in the organisation’s ongoing success and development.

A&B Cymru has provided Nofit State with enormous and wide ranging support over many years. It is not too much to say that the relationship has had a transformative impact. From supporting company development through Board Bank, to providing training and networking, to introducing us to potential business partners, to providing match funding for sponsorship secured, A&B Cymru has directly supported NoFit State to grow and flourish. The skills and perspective that A&B Cymru brings to the arts in Wales are both unique and enormously valuable. I hope they will be able to continue to play this important role for many years to come. Alison Woods, Executive Director, NoFit State Circus
