Governance Training

Board Talk

Effective Boards understand their role and responsibilities, work together successfully, and possess the right range of skills. A Board should make a vital contribution to the success of its organisation – if ineffective it will quite simply stifle growth.

A&B Cymru offers a range of opportunities for arts organisations and their boards, helping them fulfill their potential through strong and effective governance.

Board Bank

Business knowledge and experience can make a major impact on an arts organisation’s board, helping to ensure the long term health of the creative sector. Board Bank consists of business managers with specialist skills who wish to make an effective contribution to arts organisations by becoming non-executive directors and trustees. Prior to carefully matching them with an appropriate board, A&B Cymru trains all potential candidates in good practice.

In addition to the Welsh Government funded Board Bank, A&B Cymru offers the following:

On Board

This practical day-long session provides senior arts managers and individuals with an opportunity to explore ways of improving the performance and contribution of their boards.

The course covers the following essential topics:

• How should a board work?
• Key strategies to ensure success
• Relationship management

On Board Bespoke

This ½ day course, aimed at Boards and individuals who sit on Boards, takes a focussed approach to good governance and the roles and responsibilities of trustees. Sessions are tailored to address specific issues being faced by the organisation.
